Keeping your windows crystal clear can be a challenge, especially in areas like South Surrey and White Rock, where ocean breezes carry salt, dust, and other residues that accumulate on high glass surfaces. Traditional window cleaning methods can be time-consuming, often requiring ladders and chemical cleaning products. Fortunately, there’s a modern, safer, and highly effective solution: purified water-fed-pole window cleaning. This advanced method delivers spotless results without the need for soap or risky ladder work.
How Purified Water-Fed-Pole Cleaning Works
This cleaning method uses filtered water that has had all of its minerals and impurities removed. The purified water flows through long, thin tubing which is routed through an extension pole, and is then sprayed out from a specialized window scrubbing brush, which washes the windows using the pure water as both a lubricant and cleaner.
Regular tap water contains dissolved minerals that can leave cloudy mineral residues when the water dries, unless the water is completely squeegeed off. Water that contains lots of dissolved solids is referred to as “hard water”. By removing these minerals through a special “de-ionization” filtration process, the water becomes “soft”. Soft or “de-ionized” water naturally absorbs dirt from the glass and rinses them away without leaving any residue.
Repeatedly spraying hard water onto glass surfaces and letting the water droplets air-dry without squeegeeing it off will result in what is known as “hard water stains” or “scaling”, which can permanently diminish the transparent clarity of the window. When exposed to a prolonged cycle of sun, cold and outdoor weather patterns, hard water stains form a strong bond to the glass and becomes difficult to remove. Removing a moderate accumulation hard water stains is possible, but it requires special chemicals, tools and processes, which can be costly and time consuming.
Before the application of purified water for window cleaning, professional window cleaning required all the soapy water on the glass to be completely squeegeed off before drying, which was at times very difficult and dangerous. However, with the development of mobile water purification systems and light-weight extension poles fitted with special window cleaning brushes, light to medium duty window cleaning has become safer, faster and as effective as traditional squeegee cleaning.
The filtration process typically involves Deionizing (DI) Resin, which Eliminates any impurities in the water, making it completely pure.
Other filtration systems may include:
Carbon Filters – Remove chlorine and other unwanted elements.
Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane – Removes most dissolved minerals.
These systems can be combined to create what is known as the 3-stage water purification system, the gold standard of modern day professional window cleaning.

How Deionizing Resin Works
Deionizing resin is a material made of tiny, porous beads that attract and trap minerals from the water. These beads exchange unwanted minerals with harmless elements, leaving the water completely clean.
Cation Exchange Resin – Removes minerals like calcium and magnesium, which cause hard water spots.
Anion Exchange Resin – Captures other impurities like sulfates and chlorides.
By the time the water passes through this system, it is so pure that it dries completely clear, without streaks or marks.

How DI Resin Is Made
Deionizing resin beads are made from a type of plastic that is shaped into tiny spheres. These beads go through a special treatment process involving positive and negative charging of ions to give them the ability to remove minerals from water. The result is a highly effective material that ensures the water used for cleaning is completely pure and leaves no streaks behind.
TDS Levels in Metro Vancouver and How We Achieve Near Zero PPM Purity
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) refer to the amount of minerals and impurities in water. In Metro Vancouver and in many regions around the world, treated tap water has different TDS levels depending on the area:
- Metro Vancouver Average – 10 to 40 parts per million (ppm).
- Surrey, including South Surrey – Often slightly higher, between 30 to 50 ppm.
- White Rock – 160 to 180 ppm, due to historic municipal contracts that stipulated different water sources.
For window cleaning, we lower TDS to 0-10 ppm using either our advanced 3-stage or single stage Deionizing (DI) Resin purification systems.
This ensures no mineral spots or streaks, giving windows a flawless shine.

The Benefits of Water-Fed-Pole Window Cleaning
1. Chemical-Free
Purified water is powerful enough to clean windows without soap or chemicals, making it eco-friendly and safe for plants, pets, and outdoor surfaces.
2. Safe and Ladder-Free
Because the system uses lightweight poles that extend up to five stories high, there’s no need for ladders. This reduces the risk of falls and accidents while allowing for faster, more efficient cleaning.
3. Spot-Free and Streak-Free Windows
Since the water is free of minerals, it dries without leaving hard water stains. And unlike soap-based methods, there’s no sticky residue to attract dirt, meaning windows stay cleaner for longer.
4. Perfect for Large and Hard-to-Reach Windows
Many homes in South Surrey and White Rock have large windows which are high up from the ground that are difficult to clean with traditional methods. The water-fed-pole system makes it easy to reach these high and difficult-to-reach spots.
5. Protects Your Home’s Exterior
Traditional cleaning can sometimes damage window frames or seals. The gentle brushes and pure water in the water-fed-pole system clean thoroughly without harming delicate surfaces.
6. Gently Washes your frames and sills
The water-assisted scrubbing action washes away dirt, cobwebs, and debris from your window frames and sills. Clean frames and sills can make a significant difference in your home’s curb appeal.
